“Les Amis de La Martinerie” had the pleasant surprise of welcoming Richard and Chantal Allen (née Joly) and their friends from Colorado on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Present on the La Martinerie site from 1964 to 1966, as part of the US Army, Richard Allen married Chantal Joly, a NATO employee, in the base chapel.
During a tour of the rooms commemorating the presence of American forces with Roland, one of our volunteers, Chantal Allen was surprised to find herself in one of the photos presented to our visitors and to see Jacqueline R., her best friend who is still present in the department, on one of the Red Cross photos.
A future visit is currently being planned.
